Start of Project
2015

The project comprises of a refurbishment of a Trucks Warehouse, owned by the Entreposto Group.

The refurbishment covers 4 separate blocks inside the Warehouse including exterior treatment of facades, parking and accesses.

As it is located in an exponentially growing area of the Matola city, the main idea was to incorporate a timeless look to the design, approaching to a modern and industrial look.

There was a large attempt to reduce changes to the existing Warehouse in order to minimize the cost of constructions, so our challenge thereafter was to find elements and solutions that could still be used to justify the image we were trying to achieve and dignify the name of an innovative company that is for long established in Mozambique.

Hence the idea of using a very common material – expanded raised steel mesh – which is easily found in the market, allowed us to present the project with a low cost option, which stands as the main element wrapping the building and giving it a new and authentic look. Besides the aesthetic value it provides also shade to the interior spaces and maximizing passive cooling.

From wall facades, to floor panels and false ceilings, this element was extensively used throughout the project to bind the various spaces involved.

Some of the interior spaces were adapted in order to be independent from the Warehouse, therefore minimizing the costs of the project.
